Onora grew out of our desire to have a low maintenance pilot house yacht that could take us across oceans quickly and to the high latitudes safely. Chuck Pine designed her from his Bermuda series but she has more frames, thicker skin, bigger tanks, and a massive rig which makes her a medium displacement vessel at 35 tons. Kelly Archer built her in New Zealand drawing on his experience with Steve Dashew's Beowulf, etc. to make her easily to double hand. Launched in 2004, she has taken us around the world and to the Antarctic and the Arctic while surviving thee groundings that merely dented her keel but each which would have sunk most boats. After 60,000 miles we know that no matter what the conditions or gear failure, Onora will get us safely to the next distant port.
