On June 15, Guirec Soudee, the CCA’s 2019 Young Voyager awardee, departed from Chatham to row across the Atlantic. Woody Metzger, of First Light Boatworks, towed Guirec’s 27 foot purpose-built rowing craft from Mill Pond out to the open ocean.

Peter Gibbons-Neff has a solo bluewater mission this year in a sailboat that’s unlike the boats his fellow members of the Cruising Club of America sail offshore. Terminal Leave is an RG 650, a Classe Mini 6.50 design, and it stretches all of 21 feet, 4 inches.

With the pandemic lockdowns, many members of the Cruising Club of America were frustrated by the cancellation of their sailing plans. A group cruise organized by the CCA and the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club had been planned for this Spring, but has now been postponed to 2022.
