A few observations for those visiting Scotland for the first time.
Glasgow airport is the main airport, for the West of Scotland, with good linking flights from the London airports. There are very regular buses from the airport into the center of Glasgow, bus station and close to the railway stations. A 20 minute taxi ride, if not rush hour.
Oban may be reached by a three hour and 20 minute train from Glasgow, just over three hours by bus and is at least a two hour taxi ride from Glasgow airport.
Dunstaffnage is a 10 minute taxi ride from Oban.
Ardfern is a 45 minute taxi ride from Oban (there is a bus), a two hour and 20 minute taxi ride from Glasgow airport and over five hours by buses from Glasgow airport.
Please be aware that Largs is on the Clyde not on the West Coast.
To pick up a yacht in Largs would mean either a passage around the Mull of Kintyre (tide timing important) and north to Ardfern, overnight or two days. Or a partial days cruise to Ardrishaig, into the Crinan Canal (draft to be considered), then the canal transit completed the next day and onto Ardfern. So please consult with the charterers if they might deliver the boat north or allow you to leave it up north?
There is good provisioning around Glasgow and Oban. Several companies deliver groceries. Much more information to come.
